Skokie Millwork was established
on November 28, 1949.
Here’s how it all began…
Gilbert Grosse was known in his neighborhood for his skilled carpentry and general handiness. On that late November day, a neighbor asked him to make a window sash. Word traveled and, working from his garage, Skokie Millwork was born.
In 1951, brothers Bud and Milton joined his growing company. Business continued to thrive and soon they outgrew their small garage space. They built and moved to a new building that is home to Skokie Millwork today.
As Gilbert devoted his life to Skokie Millwork, so too do his sons Jim and Paul. Raised sweeping floors and stocking lumber, they are now the proud owners of Skokie Millwork and run the business with the same passion and devotion their father and uncles had over 7 decades ago.
